Rev. Terre Garner, Co-pastor
Terre grew up in Carthage and is a lifelong member of Carthage Christian Church. She has served in ministry positions here over the past 20 years, including several interim ministries, as senior pastor, and now, as co-pastor. She is passionate about the power of the Holy Spirit to bring healing and transformation to everyone. At Carthage Christian Church, her ministry focus is on pastoral care and worship.
Terre prepared for ministry at Hiram College and at Texas Christian University’s Brite Divinity School. She was ordained in June 1976 at Carthage Christian Church. Her continued studies in social work and counseling support the pastoral care ministry to the church and the Carthage community.
Terre is also the part-time executive director of the Ohio Federation for Children’s Mental Health. She models compassion and justice for those who struggle with physical and mental disabilities, and their families and caregivers.
Rev. Rebecca Woods, Co-pastor
Rebecca began serving at Carthage Christian Church as a seminary intern in September of 2006, and continued in ministry there until February 2009. She returned as co-pastor in May of 2010. She is passionate about connecting people with God’s love, building community, and helping people discover and use their gifts. Her focus at Carthage Christian Church is on education and outreach.
Rebecca also serves as interim executive director of the Campus Ministry Center at Miami University, and provides marketing and social media consulting services for religious and non-profit organizations. A freelance religion journalist, she is a frequent contributor to Just Women and StillSpeaking magazines. She is also a contributing editor to Banned Questions About the Bible (Chalice Press, April 2011).
Rebecca is a graduate of Miami University and earned a Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary. She was ordained at Tylersville Road Christian Church in Mason, Ohio in June 2008.
